2025 Unsung Hero Scholarship Awards
Ravens Roost #43 celebrated two outstanding student athletes by presenting them with our annual Unsung Heroes Scholarship
Awards at Ledo's Pizza in Frederick.
Our 2025 female recipient, Rebecca Davis, graduated from Linganore High School and is attending the University of Miami this Fall. Rebecca was a varsity cheerleader and an All-Star cheerleader and captain with the Maryland Twisters, winning a World Championship in 2023. A member of multiple academic honor societies, her GPA put her in the top 2% of her class. In addition to her academic achievements, she served her community through the Libertytown Community Civic Association, New Market Green Team, and Stream Link, planting trees and working community cleanup efforts. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she also provided tutoring for LHS students in English, Math, and Spanish, including instruction translation for dual-language learners.
Our 2025 male recipient, George King, graduated from Tuscarora High School and is attending the University
of Maryland this Fall. He was the Senior Captain of the Tuscarora HS baseball team and participated in the Golf and Unified Bocce teams. He is a member of the National Honor Society and president of
the Best Buddies Club, a fantastic organization dedicated to the inclusion of students with disabilities. George also has a stellar academic record and has given back to his community by volunteering
for the Salvation Army, Wreaths Across America, the Special Olympics' Polar Bear Plunge, and additional organizations promoting animal welfare and teaching baseball to children.
Both of these student athletes exemplify what is means to be an Unsung Hero in our communities. Our Ravens Roost 43 family
are very proud to have selected them both and wish them the best in their future endeavors.
